minimise consumption

We minimise material and energy usage in all our own processes and activities, as well as in processes and activities serving our customers. We take responsibility for our entire value cycle.

choose sustainable materials

and energy

We choose materials and substances that do not cause ecological damage. We avoid any unnecessary natural resource exhaustion and replace unsustainable energy sources with environmentally sound ones.

recycle all residuals

We close material loops by reusing and recycling. Residuals not suitable to reuse or recycle are offered for energy recovery. Residual heat is a great resource to heat our buildings.

our sustainable conviction

At Aalberts integrated piping systems, we believe that sustainability is our responsibility towards our planet and future generations. Therefore, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through smart innovations, adopting circular business models, and optimizing energy usage in all locations and by all of our employees.

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities are more and more equipped with the latest energy-efficient technologies, and we continuously explore new ways to reduce waste, minimize pollution, and conserve resources. We firmly believe that sustainable growth is the key to long-term success, and we strive to inspire our customers, technology partners, and stakeholders to join us in this journey towards a cleaner, greener future.

sustainable impact with our Pegler Terrier Valves

Pegler Terrier Thermostatic Radiator Valves hold an A rating for energy efficiency and, confirmed by a recent case study, can save the typical UK household up to 18% on their energy bills. Manufactured in the UK, over 90% of its components are locally sourced. Our commitment to sustainability is illustrated by the use of brass with a high recycled content, ensuring that each radiator valve contains more than 50% recycled material. Furthermore, our product is designed with accessibility in mind, catering for individuals with visual impairments and limited dexterity.

our sustainable development goals

our environmental product declarations

Environmental product declarations (EPDs) provide transparent and scientifically based information about the environmental impact of a product throughout its lifecycle. EPDs provide verified information about a product’s carbon footprint, water usage and waste generation as well as other environmental impact factors. By comparing this with other EPDs our customers can make informed decisions, ensure their purchases have minimal impact on the environment and contribute to a sustainable future.

our embodied carbon

Whilst Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are invaluable for providing comprehensive information, we recognize that they can be complex and time-consuming to develop. So we’re introducing a quicker and more accessible way to assess environmental impact across the entire product range: Embodied Carbon calculated using CIBSE TM65 methodology.

Embodied Carbon encompasses all emissions generated during the manufacture, installation, and end-of-life disposal of a product. Notably, this calculation doesn’t consider the potential benefits of re-use, recovery, or recycling. In the context of Aalberts IPS products, the majority of emissions (embodied carbon) are associated with the raw materials used to make them.

When both a TM65 embodied carbon calculation as well as an EPD are available, we’d always recommend using the EPD, simply because it’s more accurate.

Aalberts integrated piping systems brass extruders

British brass

At our Doncaster facility, we take pride in being one of the few manufacturers in the United Kingdom with an integrated brass foundry. This gives us a high level of control over our raw material. The brass we make is a blend of three key elements: Copper, Zinc and Lead. We ensure that 100% of the copper comes to us as scrap from trusted local metal merchants. Our on-site foundry, gives us the capability to directly recover and recycle all waste brass generated during our manufacturing operations. As a result of our responsible sourcing and in-house material re-use, the average recycled content of brass produced at our Doncaster facility is 90%.
